From 1896 to 1993, our pastures saw nothing but registered Hereford cattle.  Our herd is based on the Line 1 and Mark Donald bloodlines.  In 1993, we started a commercial herd of Hereford and Angus cattle.  Our belief was that we could offer quality Hereford seedstock to cattlemen, as well as producing top quality Hereford x Angus crossbred steers and replacement females.

We understand the challenges for the commercial cow–calf producer, so we place great emphasis on the true, proven performance of our cattle.  The registered cows are managed the same as our commercial cows – they all have to pay their own way.  Our cows must be fertile, with good udders and adequate milk, efficient, functional and free of problems. The herd sires have been selected from bloodlines that are proven leaders in calving ease, fertility, performance and maternal and carcass traits.

We combine cow sense with modern technology in order to offer quality genetics.  Since 2005, we have been named an AHA TPR Gold Breeder each year for 100% participation in Whole Herd Reporting.  We have tested and evaluated our steers for feedlot and carcass performance in the National Hereford Feed Out (formerly the Genetic Outreach Program). We also use ultrasound testing on our bulls and heifers to measure the carcass potential of our genetics.

In the rapidly changing world of today’s beef industry, producers must pay close attention to the bottom line.  Cattle that perform with superior efficiency can insure you the highest profit margin.  In ten feedlot and carcass tests, and we consistently beat the yard average.

From 1994 to 2010, the ranch averages for our feedlot steers are listed below
